Sisterhood Gift Shop has a New Gift Registry for Bar/Bat Mitzvahs and Weddings

November 2009

Couples and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs that would like to register can fill out a registry by appointment with a gift shop volunteer.  Bar/Bat Mitzvah students can send a post card to their grandparents letting them know how to contact us.  Our gift shop volunteers will gladly assist them over the phone in making a special purchase and handle all the details from there.

We've all been to a wedding or Bar/Bat Mitzvah and not known what would be just the right gift.  Traditionally, brides go to local department stores and registered for china, crystal, and silver.  In more recent years couples register for non-traditional items like lawnmowers, tool kits, and even honeymoons.  When it comes to Bar/Bat Mitzvah students the traditional gifts and checks in multiples of 18 have been replaced with iTunes gift cards, electronic devices, and gift cards to popular retailers, gifts that are not Judaica and have no sentimental value.

Oftentimes, guests don't know what to get, so resorting to the "cash is king" concept becomes a logical solution.  The gift shop now offers a registry for Bar/Bat Mitzvah and bride and groom couples to allow their guests to purchase a special Judaica item that they will treasure for years to come.  This is especially helpful for non-Jewish friends and relatives and out of town relatives who would like to give something Judaic, but don't know where to begin.

Sisterhood Gift Shop Introduces New "Layaway" Plan for Members

November 2009

The gift shop offers Beth Tikvah members a layaway option for large purchases that are not needed right away.  Many of the Bar/Bar Mitzvah and families and brides and grooms see beautiful handcrafted talliot, yads, and gold jewelry and can't afford to make such large purchases all at once, especially when their event may still be a year away.  Many of the items they see are one-of-a-kind and may not be there when they come back in six months.  To ease the burden of the simcha costs and to encourage you to purchase what you really love, the gift shop allows members to reserve an item with a 10% deposit, paying the balance monthly over as many as 10 months.
